Beautiful girl Dafina - Daffy to her friends! Is looking for a new home due to a sad change in circumstances leaving her owner with less time to invest in her - she needs her new person to be patient & understanding, in return you will have an amazing best friend in her who will be ready for adventures!
She is a medium sized, super intelligent and bouncy girl. She is mainly great with strangers but doesn’t like being stroked by them so you have to be willing to advocate for her space, once she’s comfortable with a person she will demand their attention and for them to play with her.
Daffy's biggest issue is with dogs, she doesn’t like off lead dogs running near her as she’s had a few issues with them invading her space in the past, she can be reactive when she’s scared. Daffy & her human have been working with a trainer and she can mainly ignore on lead dogs if you given enough space.
She was doing so so well up until last winter where only going out in the dark has caused her nerves to step up, with fireworks sadly being the main catalyst.
Daffy is incredibly smart, she knows a lot of tricks & learnt them with ease! She has really good recall (unless she sees a squirrel) and is so easy to train. Daffy has loved scent work and she can find a bit of chicken hidden in a bush in the middle of a giant field she’s so good at it! She loves going on runs and will trot alongside the whole way. She is really well behaved on a lead and knows how to loose leash walk.
Daffy would need to be the only pet in a quiet, child free home. She is used to being left for 6-8 hours a day and spends that time napping, she needs a family who can either take her out for exercise during the daytime or arrange for someone trusted to so.
She has certain routines for introducing her to new people and dogs which would have to be followed as she is a nervous girl and needs to know what to expect in new situations! Daffys current owner would love to also pass on the details of the trainer they have used, as he has done wonders for her so far and that would need to be kept up with until her dog reactivity was managed.
Daffy has been taken on school trips, camping in wales and hundreds of miles of hiking, she absolutely loves being outdoors so would need an active family!
