Description
I am writing to ask for your help in finding a suitable and understanding home for our 7-year-old dachshund.
He is a lovely, affectionate boy who enjoys company and is very loving once he feels safe. However, he has had a difficult past and has lived in three previous homes. Because of this, he can become anxious and fearful, which has led to him biting when he feels scared or overwhelmed. He also has some guarding issues that would need patient and experienced handling.
Recently, he bit someone in our household, and sadly, we have had to accept that we are no longer able to give him the level of support and specialist care that he needs. This has been an incredibly hard decision, as he means a great deal to us.
We truly believe that with the right environment, time, and training, he could continue to thrive. He needs someone who understands nervous dogs and is willing to put in the work to help him feel secure and confident.
Our only wish is for him to go somewhere safe and supportive where his needs can be met and where he will be given the chance he deserves.

Cons
Not the best choice for first time owners because Dachshunds often have a mind of their own
Care must be taken with puppies because they must not be allowed to jump up or down from anywhere because it could damage their backs and joints
They are prone to putting on too much weight if not given enough daily exercise
