Description

I’m only taking enquiries at the moment as this is a rehoming situation not because I don’t adore my bird but because I feel there might be homes out there that can give him a far better quality of life. This is “Duck”. He’s a sweetheart. He’s very good with my son. We have had him since we was about 3 months old, he is now about 3 years. I say “he” but I’ve never had the sex formally tested. It’s just my suspicion. He is a needy bird. Always wants to be out and with you. Loves to cuddle up. Unfortunately I work full time and I am a mum and have other pets. So Duck is only getting a short time out of his cage and nowhere near the interaction he would like. He can say “who’s a good boy” and he blows kisses. I would be looking to consider a home that could give him more full time undivided attention. Somebody with experience with birds and a passion for them. Conures are certainly demanding in terms of their psychological and emotional needs. I would want to stay in touch to see how he got on in any new home & to see the set ups he would be going into. Few disclaimers: He CAN be a little bit funny with hands. He does not like it when hands approach him. But he likes to approach hands of his own accord and that’s when he snuggles in. He’s always been this way since I got him, so I think the breeder used to just grab him to pick him up so he doesn’t respond well to this. He is also a nightmare to get back into his cage! So training wouldn’t go a miss but we do get around it here. And finally he is cage possessive. So he will bite fingers that are put through the cage. Once out the cage though, totally tame. Also tame with strangers providing they don’t try and reach out with hands to stroke him or pick him up. He needs to get comfortable and trust first. He’s very gentle as it goes. Lovely nature. He deserves the best honestly. And it would break my heart to see him go. But it also breaks my heart that he is lacking so much in the interaction he craves. Feel free to ask me any questions
