Description
This isn't a decision ive made lightly, I never wanted it to come to this but ive made the decision to rehome Bear due to me having a spinal cord injury last year. This injury has left me with significant nerve damage to my left side and I struggle daily with my mobility. Im at a point where I cant walk him due to this and I think its unfair to us both that this carries on.
Bear is almost 3yrs old, he's a loving, loyal boy to myself and my 3 boys (10,8 and 7) he adores children and I can usually find him playing with them in the garden or sat at the top of the stairs as they go to bed. This hasn't been a easy decision for me but I know im doing the right thing trying to find him a home where he will be loved as much as he is here. Due to my injury I find it hard to walk more than a few yards without being in pain and my left leg giving way. I therefore cant walk him at all. I have also recently been medically terminated from my employer so am struggling afford a dog walker and to keep up on his diet.
Bear is a fantastic dog, he does have 1 flaw though, he can sometimes be off with other dogs if he isn't introduced gradually. He has lived with both a male and female dog so once he's used to them he is fine. Slow introduction is a must with him. He has never actually gone for another dog but if approached he will growl.
He's a strong boy and walks with a Halti head collar to stop his pulling, this is only due to sheer excitement. Once he's had his time off lead, played with his ball he will walk calmly at the side of you. His recall is 9/10, he will always come back to you and bring his ball and doesn't take on other dogs while he is playing. At the moment I have had to change his food to butchers loaf tins and Harringtons Lamb dry biscuits, he also has raw treats daily and antlers weekly. He loves to play with his toys and will happily engage with anybody who is willing to play with him. He knows his basic commands, sit, stay, lie down, paw and also understands the words Bed, treats, biscuits, car, walk, ball, lead. He has recently been castrated as I dont want him getting into the wrong hands and being used for breeding.
I have tried to go through rescues but they are full to the brim at present so thought I would try to find him a new home this way. Bear won't be going to just anybody as he deserves to find the best home and people who are going to love him like I do. I would like to do ID checks if possible to know that the people applying for him are genuine.
