13 months old male german shepherd dog for rehoming.
i am rehoming him on behalf of a family member due to unforeseen circumstances. They have been threatened with eviction if not rehomed.
Jerry-lee is a 13 months old male german shepherd dog. Colour - black and tan, short coat.
Please note- he is not to go to just anyone and needs the time, love, and training.
Jerry-lee is a very very lovable dog, in fact the most loveable dog we have ever had. although he has the characteristics of a typical german shepherd and needs to know this person before hand/ get to know this person.
He prefers female owners however gets on with males too.
He only gets along with medium-large female dogs as he currently lives with a male french bulldog who he is gotten into fights with and now have to stay separated. He does not get on with cats.
He is crate trained when left alone due to his high energy levels he sometimes can get destructive ( getting into the bin/ grabbing stuff of the sides ) however when he is with someone at their side he is very well behaved.
Due to his high energy levels he does need the mental stimulation and 1-2 walks a day depending on how long these are.
Jerry-lee loves to cuddle up on the sofa or be with you at all times. despite him having high energy levels he does have an off button when in a calm environment and will just chill out/ go to sleep on the floor.
He has been raised around young kids between 8-15 and is great with kids. however due to him being jumpy and energetic and unaware of his size i would preferably prefer him not to go to a home with children too young.
He occasionally has the odd accident if left alone, and does need to be let outside for the toilet a lot of times throughout the day due to being an entire male and feeling the need to make his territory. ( Not Neutered )
If someone knocks at your door he will bark and make you aware that someone is at your house. he is very wary of strangers and needs that time to build a relationship with unknown people.
If you haven’t noticed by the photos he is a very very gorgeous boy and well built/ structured.
He is a very typical german shepherd on the lead and feels the need to protect his owner/family. He is dog and human reactive on the lead HOWEVER since using the halti head collar ( shown in photos ) he has been a lot better behaved and less reactive towards people if with a confident handler. We occasionally use a muzzle for him if in a busy environment or places that tend to have a lot of dogs due to the other dogs being off lead. He is great off the lead when no one is around, or in a secure field and does have great recall.
he loves to play ball, loves hard toys, and teddys ( although he will destroy his teddys)
Jerry-lee needs a very confident owner, and someone who’s had previous experience with German Shepherds. It would be great if he could be rehomed to someone who would put that time into his training as he definitely has the potential to be a great all rounder dog.
