đź“ŤWe are looking for someone close local to Nottinghamshire for Esme who would be happy to continue working with our trainer linked to the rescue (adoption fee includes 1 handling session with our trainer).
Esme is simply gorgeous and full of charm. She’s 1.5 years old and looking for a forever home where she can enjoy the structure and routine she needs to thrive. When she first arrived with us, she was in a bit of a state – anxious, unfocused, and lacking basic training. But now that she’s settled into a routine, she’s doing brilliantly.
Esme is a classic Spaniel in all the best ways – playful, clever, and full of character. Her cheeky grin and the adorable little “antenna” of hair on top of her head give her a cartoonish charm that’s impossible to resist. Everyone at the kennels has fallen for her, and we’re eager to see her with a family who truly understands her needs.
Esme came to us from a home that had raised her from a puppy, but unfortunately, she didn’t get the structure or boundaries she needed. Combined with a poor diet, this left her anxious and a bit neurotic – pulling and barking on the lead, and unable to settle.
Since enrolling in our Doggy Dens Bootcamp, Esme has made amazing progress. She now walks beautifully on the lead, is picking up training very quickly, and has learned how to relax instead of being constantly on the go. She’s a truly fantastic little dog who will flourish in the right home.
Her adopter will receive a handling session with our trainer to ensure she continues her great progress and starts off on the right foot.
Esme is good with other dogs, and we’re working on helping her remain neutral when passing them on the lead. For this reason, we do not recommend on-lead introductions with unfamiliar dogs, as this can lead to reactivity – something that applies to many dogs. Since she hasn’t previously shared indoor space with other dogs, we would require a meet-and-greet with any existing dogs in the home before adoption.
That said, Esme would be perfectly happy as the only dog – and she’ll absolutely be the apple of her adopter’s eye. She has a real sweetness about her and a lovely, endearing nature.
Esme can be rehomed with children as young as five. As always, we ask that parents supervise all interactions between dogs and children to ensure a positive and safe relationship for everyone involved. Esme’s playful spirit and love of walks would make her a brilliant addition to an active household – whether it’s playing ball in the garden, joining family walks, or tagging along on caravan holidays.
We’ve all fallen head over heels for Esme. She’s a delightful little character, and we’re hopeful she’ll soon charm her way into the hearts – and home – of a loving forever family.
Esme is currently not spayed, but in the future this is something we would require her new adopter to plan for.
