Meet Rocky, our beautiful Black and tan Cocker Spaniel, born on 01/01/2021. Rocky has been a much-loved member of the family since puppyhood, but following a recent divorce, I am sadly no longer able to give him the time and support he truly deserves.
About Rocky:
• Age: Just over 4 1/2 years old
• Health: Up to date with all vaccinations; full medical history available and in good order
• Temperament: Generally a very sweet, affectionate dog who loves attention, walks, and following his nose!
Important to know:
• Rocky has not been castrated. While he gets along fine with the majority of other dogs, there are occasional barking stand-offs when he meets some males he doesn’t get on with.
• True to his breed, he keeps his nose to the ground and likes to pick things up from the street (including chicken bones etc.). To keep him safe, we use a muzzle or mouth-covering harness when walking.
• Rocky does have some resource guarding issues: if he picks something up that he shouldn’t, he doesn’t like having it removed by hand and has bitten before in that situation.
• He would really benefit from an experienced new owner who has the time, patience, and budget to invest in training to help him overcome these habits.
Ideal home:
Someone familiar with spaniels or resource guarding issues, who can provide consistent training, a secure environment, and plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. A home without young children would be best, given his guarding tendency.
Rocky truly is a loving companion with lots of character and affection to give; he just needs the right guidance to help him thrive.
