I'm very sad to be doing this but I'm looking to rehome my dog Denzel. He is about 4 years old and is a shih tzu cross poodle supposedly. Potential new owners will be required to meet with Denzel several times before taking him, if you are willing to do so then please read on...
I rehomed Denzel from my sister who had rehomed him from someone who had told her he was good with children, but realised he wasn't when her child who was 3 at the time wouldn't leave him alone. Previous to my sister getting him he had had 4 other owners and I'm guessing from his behaviour he has been mistreated. Denzel needs a new home with adults only, or very mature/ sensible teenagers. The reason I am rehoming him is because I have a 2 month old baby and I am worried about when he is moving about in a few months. Denzel wouldn't go out of his way to hurt a child but I know it wouldn't take a lot for him to snap and I wouldn't want this to be a possibility.
He is quite a vocal dog and will bark at a knock on the door but will also try to talk to you. This is another reason for wanting to rehome him, living in a flat with a 2 month old baby he is being woken up when he does bark.
Denzel likes going for walks but does react to strangers (mainly men) and other dogs. He currently lives with a other dog but is very picky, he prefers dogs that are smaller than him.
He also loves to laze about on the sofa being stroked.
He can be playful at times. He likes playing tug of war (which he's not very good at).
With visitors he knows he does get excited and at first will mither a visitor until they say hello to him. Visitors who he doesn't know normally win him over with a couple of treats.
Denzel is house trained, we live in a 1st floor flat so he is able to hold himself for a long time.
Denzel likes treats and does take them very gently. If he has a bigger treat such as ahe pigs ear it's best to leave him alone with it, will growl if he thinks you're going to take it from him.
It is a hard thing for me to do as I have had him for the past 2 and a half years, this is why I need to find him owners who understand him the same way I do. I'm not looking to just get rid of him quickly, I want him to find his perfect home, which is why I have been honest about him.
