DescriptionECHO - in foster (Wrexham) - available to adopt/foster
Aged 2 (3 in October) - medium/large - lurcher type dog
Echo is reluctantly being rehomed through no fault of his own. His owner simply isn't strong enough to safely walk him and her baby at the same time. Therefore, he just isn't getting the exercise and lead walking training that he needs.
This very handsome brindle and white boy is currently living with two adults, two older children, a baby and 3 other dogs. His best friend is a 6 year old Labrador whom he lives with. Echo is brilliant with humans and very gentle with small children and babies. He enjoys playing with other dogs, but they don't always enjoy his play style!!
Echo is fine being walked in busy traffic areas (although he's a little spooked by large vehicles passing close by). He is quite strong on the lead and so he needs someone who can manage that. He also becomes a bit vocal in greeting other dogs when out and about, although not aggressive. His outbursts are quite short-lived.
Sadly, because he isn't getting the walks he needs, Echo does get a bit bored sometimes. However, when he is walked this can be done with other dogs. He will still have a vocal 'hello' to other dogs on the walk.
When off the lead, Echo doesn't wander off too far and always come back to you when he's called. However, it must be stressed that any newly rehomed dog should not be let off the lead for quite some time.
In the home, Echo loves his creature comforts and will happily lounge around and sleep in his favourite cosy spots. Occasionally, he may decide to bark at post coming through the letterbox or a dog passing by. He can also be a bit anxious/timid around some household items like mops, brooms, vacuum cleaners and hairdryers.
As a lurcher type, he does have a high prey-drive and so this should also be noted and considered. There cannot be any small furries in his home.
Echo is a wonderful, quirky and affectionate boy, who loves his cuddles and who enjoys 'talking' to you. He is gentle with children and babies in the home. He just needs someone who can handle him on his walks.
Please note: Echo has not been neutered at present.
