Description

Black and Tan Jack Russell Terrier 18 months old Looking to rehome our Jack Russell Terrier as our work commitments mean we can’t be at home as much as we would like to be to look after him. He lives with another dog of the same age currently but they do not get on. He has spent time with other family dogs that are older than him and he gets on with them fine. He is very loyal and calm in the house. He loves to play with a ball and loves walks. He has had heel training on the lead and his recall is good when playing with a ball. He can be reactive sometimes to other dogs when on a lead, however when he is playing with a ball he is not interested in any other dogs or people. He hasn’t spent any time with young children so we couldn’t say how he would react to this, so for that reason we think he would be better suited to a home with older children/no children. He has been crate trained from 8 weeks old and loves to sleep in his crate with the door open, it’s his safe space. We really love our Jack Russell and this isn’t something we ever wanted to do but we think that a new home is the best decision for him. He needs a home with owners who can give him all the exercise he needs and who understand his nature as a terrier. He is a very intelligent dog and he thrives off routine and mental stimulation and he picks up new tricks easily. He has been aggressive with our other dog but he has not done this with dogs on walks or other family dogs. Our other dog is the same age so we think that this aggression comes from trying to be the more dominant out of the pair. We did look into some behaviourist training from the vets to help with this so that we could continue to have both of our dogs, but due to our work commitments this isn’t something we have been able to commit to. We just want the best for him. He has had regular checkups and flea and worming from the vets since he was a puppy. He has been fed a raw diet mixed with kibble and his teeth are in excellent condition. He is a very healthy dog and he is a good weight (9.5kg). He is microchipped. When we purchased him as a puppy, we were able to meet both Mum and Dad and he came from a good home. All he has known since living with us is love and care, but the issues with our other dog have put us in a position where we believe that in order for him to have a better life, they need to be apart. He is a loyal companion and loves to be by your side on the sofa but will happily go and sleep on his own in his crate when he needs to. We have loved having him but we believe that a new home will be best to make sure that he is as happy as possible. We would like to know where our beautiful dog is going to live and we want to make sure he goes to a home where we think he will be happy.
