Description
Please read the whole ad, will only be going to a specific home. He has been with me since January 2023. Based in Glasgow, he would need to go to a home who understands and is willing to continue working on his person reactivity/guarding behavior. Scotch is a 2 year old medium sized German Shepherd cross. He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date with his vaccinations, worming and fleaing. He is fully house trained. With slow introductions to sympathetic people, he is a very rewarding boy. Once Scotch has been introduced properly he is friendly & super affectionate, he wants to be with his person at all times. He is happily crated, and can be left for a few hours in his crate. He can get a bit of anxiety when not crated and alone, but he does very well uncrated with the company of my 6 year old female dog. He does not do well with other male dogs. Scotch loves fetch and tug toys and is very food motivated which makes him very trainable. Scotch pulls at first on his lead, but walks well on loose at heel once excitement wears off. As mentioned, Scotch is very nervous when approached by strangers and will lunge and bark at strangers who do not give him space. A lot of work would need to be put in to introduce Scotch to the home, as he can be protective of his food/toys/attention. So meals would be given separately to any other dogs, and no toys or long lasting treats left sitting around to avoid any disagreements. In this scenario, the priority would be to ensure both dogs are happy and safe and with each other. Scotch would not be appropriate to home with children. Once he is comfortable with you, he is extremely bouncy! He would be best as a companion boy. He is chase reactive to cats and small furries. He potentially could be homed with a confident cat (I have two) but this would need to be approached properly. As mentioned, he is food motivated so it could be possible with proper introductions and "Leave it" training. For example, my older cat stands her ground with a growl and occassionally a swipe, and he leaves her alone. I am happy to answer any questions, please get in touch. Thank you šŸ¾
