Description
Meet Mithu, our beautiful Alexandrine parrot. He has been a much-loved member of our family, but due to changes in our careers we can no longer give him the time and attention he truly deserves. We are now looking for a caring and experienced home where he can thrive.
Mithu is a friendly and curious companion. He enjoys sitting on our shoulders and exploring with his beak — never in an aggressive way, just his way of discovering the world. He doesn’t bite and will happily interact, though he prefers perching and sharing space with you over being handled extensively. He accepts head scratches now and then and has a particular fondness for sitting close while you go about your day.
He has a wonderful personality and is quite the talker. Mithu says his own name, along with “hello,” “baby,” and “good boy.” He also whistles and can be very vocal when he wants your attention. He loves flying around the house and perching in his favourite spots, and like most Alexandrines, he has a healthy interest in chewing wood — as well as one particular wifi cable, though amusingly he has ignored all others.
His diet is varied and healthy, consisting of fresh fruit and vegetables along with a quality seed and parrot mix. He has always been alert, active and in excellent health. Although he has not been DNA-sexed, his banding clearly indicates that he is male.
Mithu will come with everything he needs: his main cage, a smaller travel cage, a nearly new parrot stand, and any toys he has at the time. He does go through toys quickly, so he will always appreciate having new things to chew and play with.
We believe he would do best with someone who has some prior experience with Alexandrine parrots or medium-to-large parrots in general. He has been around children in our home and showed little interest, and although he has also been around a cat, he has always kept his distance and been cautious.
Our priority is finding Mithu a loving home, but we are asking for £650 (ONO) to ensure he goes to someone serious and to reflect the inclusion of his cages, stand and toys.
If you feel you could offer Mithu the time, interaction and home he deserves, please get in touch. We would be happy to answer any questions or arrange for you to meet him.
I’ve included some example pictures to give an idea of his main cage and parrot stand. They are not the exact items, but very similar, so you can see the type and size of what will be coming with him
