Here at Ferrets and Friends Cumbria we also take in unwanted and stray ferrets that need housed until a new home can be found. We do this because of our love for ferrets and have the space and facilities to do so alongside our own ferrets, please note that we are not a rescue or registered charity, and because we are self-funded, we do not neuter all the ferrets that come into our care unless needed and under no circumstances will we give money for any ferret being handed in to us.
When handing in any ferrets to us, ether unwanted or as strays, we do ask you to sign a consent form documenting that you are handing over full responsibility and ownership of the ferret and if applicable details of where the ferret was found, any personal information documented, are for our records only and will not be passed on to any third party.
Our website and other social media pages are updated on a regular basis with information, pictures of the ferrets, and of their accommodation to show that they get the best care with clean, tidy enclosures that are both inside and out. All the ferrets have large housing that provides warmth, security, and for the ferret to feel safe, without feeling threatened by the ferret in the next encloser.
All the ferrets receive a full health check, are handled well, nip trained, and litter trained to the best of our ability for the time they are with us. This however does not mean they will be 100% trained, as the new owner will need to carry on with their training.
No ferret will be homed to anyone under the age of eighteen unless accompanied by an adult and we have the right to refuse a person if we feel that the ferret will not be looked after correctly.
