Description
We are looking for someone to take in our little old lady, Holly. Holly is almost 14 and has developed some health issues over the past 12 months or so. Due to financial restraints, my partner who is usually at home with Holly, will be starting a new job soon and will no longer be at home during the day. One of Holly's issues is separation anxiety. She struggles being on her own in the house for more than 1 hour and will show this by defecating throughout the house. Holly has also been diagnosed with Canine Cognitive Dysfunction (dementia). Although there are no tests for this, the vet confirmed her behaviour is likely due to this. Holly has a lot of confusion and displays this by whimpering. She also has a lot of warts over her body and an extremely large and irritating one on her back paw. Nothing can be done about the warts and the vet advised her foot would have to be removed for the large one on her paw. After a consultation with the vets, there is no treatment available for any of Holly conditions. All in all she is a dog with quite a few problems. Many would say she has come to the end and euthanasia would be the best course. However as there is no definitive condition that would cause a vet to advise euthanasia with no alternative, it is a very difficult situation. Holly is extremely loving and is friendly with everyone she encounters. Our youngest daughter was only 2 when we got Holly and she has always been very gentle with all of our children and all others she encounters. We believe she still has some life left in her which is the reason for this advert. The best home for Holly would be someone who does not work and is home most of the day. Someone who has the patience to tend to her and look after her for whatever time she has remaining. As a family we are devastated to have to do this, but leaving Holly alone all day would be cruel and unfair on her. We have a little time before these changes in our home life happen and if anyone out there feels like they could take on the responsibility of caring for Holly, then we would love to hear from you. We are not selling Holly, we are looking to rehome her. The price is simply due to there being a minimum requirement to post the advert.
