Description

Ruby has flown from Cyprus to foster in Hampshire and is looking for her forever home This is what her foster mum says about her Ruby arrived to us 28th September. She is a beautiful, affectionate girl. She will come for attention and snuggles on the sofa and always gives the loveliest, most enthusiastic welcome in the morning or when we've been out. She has been absolutely fine with my dog and likes to wrestle and do zoomies with him. They are quite high energy when playing together, it is lovely to watch. Ruby will sleep next to him on the sofa and they both move around each other with no issues. Ruby is quite inquisitive on her walks and will stop and watches if a car, cyclist or person goes by. She walks with her nose to the floor, she does like a good sniff and sometimes pulls to get to a scent. She also likes going on the long training lead, she is great on this. She gets a bit of freedom, likes to follow my dog and we can practice recall. We feed Ruby at the same as our dog. She always sits down while we're getting it ready. She eats very fast so now has a slow feeder bowl. She takes treats and chew sticks without problem and we haven't seen any guarding or aggression over food or toys. Sometimes on walks, Ruby may occasionally bark at a peson or dog in the distance but is usually too busy sniffing the ground to notice them. On the long lead, she is eager to say hello and will approach when allowed. We all think she is gorgeous and fabulous. She'll come to us all for a cuddle and a stroke. She likes to sit cuddled up next to us but he will equally take herself off to her bed or on the sofa. Ruby goes outside to do her business. We haven't ever used a crate, Ruby sleeps in her bed alongside my dog in the dining room at night. She settles without any noise or problem. During the day, Ruby has access to the living room/dining room with my dog. She will settle in her bed or on a sofa. She has been can be left up to 3 hours so far and shows no sign of distress. We do leave an assortment of toys and chews to keep her occupied. Ruby loves company and is pleased to be with people but she can equally take herself off to lie in her bed or sit on the sofa alone. I do think Ruby would prefer to live with another dog. She does love her humans and will be a loyal girl. She's a typical, playful pup and has the odd moment (mostly morning) where she can be jumpy. So she may be a bit much for very young children. Ruby knows her name and will come when called. She knows sit, paw and down. She will need more work with her recall, to know she is secure with it before letting her off the lead. She will need more lead training, as although she is doing o.k on the lead, she is scent driven, so can sometimes pull if she gets a scent of something or if she sees a cat. This said, she is still manageable and is a pleasure to take out. Ruby is a stunning girl, her photos don't quite show how beautiful she is. We will miss her terribly.
