This is going to be a brutally honest ad and I accept people will judge but I'm just trying to do the right thing.. After a long time of my children begging for a sausage dog I eventually caved and I bought them a puppy. I was at the time, in a part time job so I was home plenty. Fast faward to February I started a new job in a new role that suited my health conditions however it was full time. I would never have got him if I was already in a full time job but I thought I could make it work. He goes day care once a week but it's expensive so 1 day is all I can afford. So that means 4 times a week he's alone. This Is 1 reason I'm looking for a new home, I think he needs a home where someone is home much more than I am. The second reason is my husband is allergic and really struggling, so I try to keep my dog away from him as much as possible and my husband ends up spending majority of his time in the bedroom. Third reason and the 1 I'm most embarrassed about is I simply didn't do enough research on the breed. I stupidly let my heart win and fell in love with the cuteness. Derek is a typical daschund, lots of energy and lots of Barking! He barks at everything. He barks at dogs on walks yet he's OK with dogs at day care, although he did have to be introduced slowly because he's scared. I really should have understood the breed more snd what they require. As I said I work full time and I have multiple health issues yet I walk him twice a day without fail. This is difficult on some days due to my health conditions and my kids won't walk him because he barks at everything. I'm admitting I'm in over my head and I was stupid to agree on getting him. I just want to find him a forever home with an experienced owner who knows the breed and what they're like and what they need ect. He's scared of people and does bark until he knows he's safe so he will likely bark on the initial meet up. He is crate trained and goes to bed when I tell him. He's a destroyer of toys and shoes! (If you leave them lying around) He loves blankets but will chew them too haha. His crate is not a standard crate it's a very solid 1, more like a peice of furniture, it cost me over£100 but I'm happy fir it to go with him as he's used to it. I have 4 older kids from the age of 12 to 18 and a ****************** chihuahua who's 6 so he's been brought up around them. He seems scared of little kids though when we're out on walks, this is likely just because he's not used to them.
