Merle Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are relatively new to the dog world. However, they are quickly gaining popularity due to their unique appearance and loving nature.
Merle Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are typically about 12 to 13 inches tall at the shoulder and weigh between 13 and 24 pounds. They have long, silky coats that can be a variety of colors, including black, blue, tan, and white. Merle Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are known for their big, soulful eyes, which can be brown, blue, or hazel.
Merle Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are typically very friendly and outgoing dogs. They are known for their gentle nature and love of people. They make great family pets and are often used as therapy dogs.
A double merle Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (MM) is a dog that has two copies of the merle gene. This can cause a variety of health problems, including blindness, deafness, and skin problems. Double merle Cavaliers are also more likely to have other health problems, such as heart defects and neurological disorders.
The merle gene is a dominant gene, which means that a dog only needs to inherit one copy of the gene to be merle. However, if two merle dogs are bred together, there is a 25% chance that their puppies will be double merle.
Breeding two merle dogs together is not recommended, as it can lead to serious health problems in the puppies. If you are considering breeding your Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, it is important to have them tested for the merle gene to ensure that they are not carrying two copies of the gene.
