Description

This is really hard for us to write, but we’re looking to rehome our lovely Border Collie, Ralph. He’s 5 years old and we’ve had him for two years after rehoming him ourselves. Unfortunately, his anxiety and prey drive have proven more than we can manage, especially with a baby on the way. We want what’s best for him, and we know he’d do better somewhere calmer and quieter. Ralph is clever, funny, and full of energy. He’s done some agility training and knows loads of tricks. He goes on group walks five days a week and is brilliant off-lead with great recall. He loves chasing a ball and thrives when he’s got a job or something to focus on. His anxious side shows mostly with loud noises — he’ll bark or chase his tail when startled. He can also try to herd cars, so he’s best walked away from busy roads or towns. Out in the fields he’s great, happy, and confident. Ralph gets on really well with other dogs on walks and currently lives with another strong-minded dog, who he plays with loads. He does overcorrect or herd submissive dogs in the home, but does well with confident dogs. We think Ralph would suit an experienced Collie owner, ideally with no young kids and a quiet home. Someone who understands the breed’s energy and sensitivity. We love him to bits and this isn’t easy for us, but he deserves the right setup to be the best version of himself. If you think you could offer Ralph that kind of home, please get in touch and tell us a bit about yourself. He also needs to build trust at the vets before being examined as he hates needles.
