DescriptionSULLY - Male - Medium/Large (Golden Retriever size) - approx. 26kg
Sully is a lovely boy who deserves a marvellous home where he can fully trust his humans and know that he's safe.
He is being reluctantly rehomed because a baby has arrived in his household and his guardians are struggling to manage his needs along with those of their child.
Sully needs an experienced home with humans who will take time to understand him and love him for the wonderful dog he is. He would like a quiet household with minimal visitors, or guardians who'd be willing to give him a space of safety when people do visit.
Once Sully learns to trust you, he is such a lovely and cuddly boy. He loves to play fetch or tug with his various toys, but then also enjoys to cuddle up with you on the sofa in front of the fire.
Sully loves his food! He gets really excited about meal times, but will sit and wait like a good boy. He will even wait for you to say, "ready, steady, go," before going to eat his food. He loves treats, which also helps with his training. He's a very smart boy.
There are things in the world that Sully finds scary, and he is currently working on a behavioural program which is really helping him with his fears. We will ensure that his new guardians are aware of this training and how to continue it.
Sully can take a little while to make friends with people and dogs - because he is scared of those he doesn't know. His new people will need to visit him a few times to form a connection and bond.
He lives with a cat currently, but may find it difficult making friends with a new cat. We also think he'd be best rehomed in a house without children.
Poor Sully also has hip dysplasia, and so his exercise needs to be kept within the parameters he can physically cope with. He's currently walked twice a day, and enjoys walks with doggies who he has made friends with.
We really need to find Sully a new home and very soon. He would find kennels very stressful due to his sensitivity, and we want to try to avoid this scenario for him.
