We are looking to rehome Bella – one of our Podengo-mix sisters.
She’s 18 months old and she came with her sister to join our family in April this year. She’s totally house and lead trained, with good recall (most of the time!) and in good health with all vaccinations etc up to date. She is very good with all other dogs and she has been amazing in our home, especially with my two kids who are aged 13 and 11. She is extremely affectionate and loves nothing more than a cuddle on the sofa or a good scratch behind the ears. HOWEVER – she has recently bitten an adult stranger while on lead and out with my daughter.
Whilst we think this may have been because she was being protective of my daughter, we also feel this may stem from living with her sister, where the pair display symptoms of Littermate Syndrome, with one dog very dominant of the other. Bella is the submissive dog in our pair, and this has been a challenging relationship to manage.
It has been a very difficult decision for us, but we feel that she will be happier and more settled if separated from her sister. We are heartbroken, but we want to do what’s best for our dog and find her a home where she can flourish and continue to be the lovely dog that she is.
