fostered Devon Paignton- needing love, compassion & understanding + resident canine companion/s
2nd Chance Adoption š
Sandi (re-christened āIndieā in the U.K. by her original owners) was an abandoned infant in a European country with babies of her own to support- she was a good mum- even when in a state of starvation. The system she passed through from homelessness to the government pound was typical in a country with a warped & distorted outlook towards animals. She survived all that and bounced back spirited and timid. In the U.K. is where her life was actually most threatened. Sandi is oblivious to this fact. Itās part of her past & needs to be mentioned but past it is & like everything Sandi has been at risk from - it will not define her. We should not demonise animals in order to elevate ourselves as faultless.
Sandi has effortlessly & unknowingly provided a testimonial to her own gentle, affectionate & adjusted nature with all her new videos. It gives clarity on her rehoming.
Going indisputably forward she will need time, patience & understanding because she will potentially struggle when she looses the only true care she known. Having at last found happiness in her foster home - having established trust and safety - & balance & stability in both her environment and household members - a transition could shake her little world again. This is what happens when we let a dog down though sheāll go from strength to strength & blossom with her compassionate carers. Thatās why we are listing her must haves as a spring board to onward success such as a secure garden, resident dogs & people who are present (working from home or retired for example).
Below are her statistics & a word from her foster āa day in the life of Sandiā so she can be known for who she is and not the mirror of human frailties.

āSANDI
We first met Sandi in her adopters home, a
scared and very unsure girl.
We managed eventually to slip lead her and walk her out to my car, and then got her into the boot.
She wasnāt happy in the boot so we put her on the back seat, with her slip lead securing her with a seatbelt clip. Instantly she laid down and remained settled for the journey home.
When we got home, we introduced her our tribe ... 6 dogs, (4 of whom are BTC dogs), and from an unobtrusive distance we watched to see how Sandi reacted.
We had one lip curl at Hera, no audible growl, snap , nothing. Within less than an hour the dogs had all decided to leave her to it, as she tucked herself under a bush. Uneventful ,contrary to what we expected. We spent the first couple of days just popping food and water down , leaving the back door open, and ignoring her.
Fast forward a week, and Although Sandi doesnāt yet want human physical affection, she has made huge progress with the
tribe . And will walk past us humans to go in and out of the garden, will come close by, and has made it as far as venturing down to the lounge. She has discovered custard creams, sausages, treats, and playtime...and lots of friends and toys.
She has a look that says she desperately wants to relax, to be loved, but is scared to allow it.
Fast forward again to week 2, and wow. We have a regular visitor to the lounge, where she comfortably nods off on one of the many beds. We are greeted with bounces and wagging tails in the morning , if weāve been outside for just a few minutes , always so so happy to see us, all of us. But still not allowing herself to be stroked, though getting better daily. I firmly believe that given time and patience , we will see
the beautiful girl within, who incidentally has the prettiest face and the deepest eyesā
