It is with a heavy heart that I am looking for a suitable new home for my 4-year-old male dachshund. He is affectionate and strongly bonded to his main caregiver. However, he can be territorial and has shown aggressive behaviour towards other people in the household, particularly my teenage son. For this reason, he needs an experienced, calm adult-only home with someone who understands dachshunds, guarding behaviour and canine body language. He should not be rehomed with children. This decision has not been made lightly. Finding a safe, appropriate and permanent home is much more important than speed.
