Description

I have for sale a wonderful and rare Japanese Shikoku Inu puppy from the first litter in the UK. These purebred dogs are unfortunately not recognised in the UK so have put him under Akita as it is a similar breed, though the shikokubis smaller. This puppy was intended to remain with our family, however due to a separation, I'm not in a position to be able to keep him and give him the attention and quality of life he deserves. He is a fantastic dog very smart, recall is progressing well and he loves other dogs having been socialised with them early on. He likes people but has spent less time socialising with them as we live in a semi rural location, so don't often get many strangers around. He has been brought up around young children (2 and 4) and loves kids. Fully vaccinated and microchipped. About the breed: Shikoku are a primitive and rare hunting breed from Japan. They were originally bred to track and bay deer and boar, keeping them in place for the hunter. Because of this, they have immense prey drive and with all the Japanese breeds they can be very stubborn and independent. They require consistent training and good exercise to be fulfilled and healthy. Major, the sire of the pup is the only working shikoku in the UK and has a fantastic temperament which has been passed down to the puppy. Luna, the Dam, is very affectionate and food orientated which she has passed onto the puppy. The breed are dominant in nature with regards to other dogs which often shows in posturing and vocalisation if they feel they are being challenge and if pushed they can be forceful and roll the challenger in order to stand over them and make sure they are aware of what theybshould/shouldn't do We had all intentions of keeping zeus but it just isn't practical and I'm now looking to find him the best homes possible
