Those who have ever lived with dachshunds – especially miniature ones – will know their quirky, unique nature. A huge personality packed into a tiny body. Often they carry a little-man syndrome, with demonstrative reactivity on walks, especially on the lead. They’re clever, affectionate, loyal, but can be selective with strangers, and don’t always tolerate chaotic small children.
Buddy, a 4-year-old neutered miniature dachshund boy (5kg), is the perfect example. He’s affectionate and playful with his trusted people, loves a game of fetch, daily walks, and curling up in his crate at night. He’s fully housetrained, knows commands like bed and wait, and is happy to be left for a few hours at a time.

He’s nervous around very young children, and with signs of defensive behaviour, his family have made the decision to rehome him to keep everyone safe and happy.

Buddy is a typical dachshund – charming, stubborn, funny, and loyal. He loves affection, daily walks, and games of fetch. He has a cheeky side, stealing toys or balls, but is gentle with those he trusts. On walks, he can be reactive if other dogs or people approach too closely, but in the right hands, with patience and clear boundaries, he will continue to blossom.
