Description
Patch is a one-year-old intact male Cocker Spaniel with a lively, affectionate personality and lots of love to give. He is a very social dog who enjoys the company of people and absolutely loves other dogs. While he can be a little anxious and overly excited at times, he is generally friendly and keen to engage with those around him.
Patch has high energy levels and thrives on exercise. He enjoys long walks twice a day and loves interactive play, particularly fetch and tug. He can play gently, though he does get quite rough during tug games. At home, he is very people-oriented and tends to follow his family everywhere. When excited, he will often chase his tail, which is one of his endearing quirks.
He is fully housetrained and sleeps through the night. Patch eats breakfast at 7am and dinner at 5pm. During the day, he finds it difficult to settle and nap when people are around, but he will settle in his crate if left undisturbed. He does not like being shut in a crate when people are present and can become distressed.
Patch knows several basic commands including sit, wait, go to his bed, and give paw. On the lead, he generally walks well but can pull when excited, especially near stimulating environments such as parks.
Patch does have some behavioural challenges that will need experienced and patient handling. He is sensitive to household activities such as cooking and cleaning and does not like the hoover, cloths, or cleaning sprays. These situations can trigger aggressive episodes at home. He is currently on medication to help with this.
Patch would be best suited to an experienced home that understands anxious or reactive behaviours and is willing to work with training and behaviour support. A calm, structured environment with plenty of exercise, clear boundaries, and minimal exposure to triggering household activities would help him thrive. He would likely benefit from a home where someone is around most of the time and where his needs can be carefully managed.
With the right support, Patch has the potential to be a loyal, energetic, and loving companion.
