Description

Due to no fault of his own we are having to put our gorgeous wire-haired dachshund, Frank up for adoption. We moved abroad a couple of years ago and the family member looking after him is no longer able to so we have made the difficult decision to look for a new loving home for Frank. Frank is 4.5 years old, he was one of two puppies in a litter so is large for a dachshund, he currently weighs 12kg. He is KC registered and has an excellent dachshund lineage (documents provided). He is up to date on all his vaccinations and is in good health. Frank requires hand stripping every 3-4 months to look after his coat. Frank currently lives with two other dogs and is very playful. He is energetic and has a great temperament, enjoying long walks and being in the company of others. He is good with children. He does require work on his recall whilst being off the lead. Frank currently walks with a Halti as he tends to pull on the lead, he also picks things up on his walks to eat so you need to be diligent. For the right home we are willing to discuss the fee. Any money from his adoption will be donated to a charity supporting dogs.

Very intelligent Dachshunds learn quickly and know how to please

Fun-loving and playful by nature

Energetic and feisty Dachshunds like to be kept entertained

Cons

Not the best choice for first time owners because Dachshunds often have a mind of their own

Care must be taken with puppies because they must not be allowed to jump up or down from anywhere because it could damage their backs and joints

They are prone to putting on too much weight if not given enough daily exercise

The breed is known to suffer from quite a few health concerns so vet bills can be high and why pet insurance is so important for anyone owning a Dachshund
