Looking for a loving home for a unique but perfect pairing of adult dogs.
Meet Poppy, an 8 year old golden female labrador and Sonny, a 2 year old dappled male minature dachshund.
Both dogs have been in the family since puppies with Sonny always having lived with Poppy, hence the desire to rehome together despite their slightly unusual pairing.
Both dogs are wonderful family pets and incredibly safe around young children, having lived with them for both of their entire lives.
Both dogs are well trained with good recall off lead and enjoy walks out together, particularly when they can be off lead and run.
Please note, neither dog has been neutered. Poppy has unfortunately never been suitable for neutering due to never exiting the ‘pre-pregnancy’ phase despite her age. Sonny is much younger than Poppy and is only now approaching a suitable age for neutering of his breed. This means Poppy does still have seasons, though they are short lived and easy to manage. Sonny can be territorial of her during these times but this can be managed by neutering now he is of age.
Poppy may be older but is absolutely full of energy and has many years left in her. Sonny is a very strong and healthy Dachshund with absolutely no pre-existing issues with his back which can be common in this breed.
The decision to rehome the pair is an incredibly difficult and emotional one but comes from a place of real love and care for the dogs. In the past two years, we have been lucky enough to welcome two new children into our home, meaning we now have 3 children, two of which are very young. This commitment is ever-growing and changing which along with both working full time, has meant we feel we’re no longer able to give the dogs the walks, time and attention they deserve.
We would love for them to be rehomed together so they can maintain their bond, particularly for Sonny who knows no different. The pair of them are very relaxed at home and can stay home alone for a normal working day, as well as loving long walks and lots of attention, meaning they could be well suited to a variety of homes and lifestyles.
