This is one of the hardest posts I’ve ever had to write, and I kindly ask that it’s read with understanding.
We rehomed Rose just four days ago, truly believing we could meet all of her needs and give her the home she deserves. Unfortunately, after settling in and being honest with ourselves, we’ve realised that — particularly with me being pregnant — her energy levels, strength, and overall needs are currently more than we’re able to give her. This decision absolutely breaks our hearts, but we want what is truly best for her.
We did reach out to Rose’s previous family to see if they would be able to take her back; unfortunately, due to changes in their circumstances, they’re unable to do so, which is why we are now carefully looking for the right new home for her.
Rose is a female German Shepherd, turning 5 years old on the 20th of February. She is spayed, fully vaccinated, microchipped, and up to date with flea and worming treatments.
She is a beautiful, affectionate girl who bonds very deeply with her people. Rose is excellent with babies and children, and she is used to living with other dogs, which shows in how comfortable she is sharing her space. She thrives on companionship and being part of the family.
On walks, Rose does get very excited when she sees other dogs and can pull strongly on the lead. Her recall is very good — when off lead she responds well and will come back when whistled. Her previous owner reassured us that her pulling improves significantly with a proper harness and consistent training over time, which we fully believe; however, we are unable to provide that consistency safely during pregnancy.
At home, Rose is affectionate, cuddly, and people-oriented. She can be left alone for short periods (around 2–3 hours) but does become anxious if left for longer, so she would do best in a home where someone works from home, is retired, or can offer a calm, stable environment with plenty of company.
We are not looking to give Rose to just anyone and will not be rushing this process. Home checks will be carried out to ensure she goes to a safe, suitable environment and to make the transition as smooth and stress-free as possible for her. Our priority is finding her the right home, not the quickest one.
If you genuinely feel you could offer Rose the environment, commitment, and stability she needs, please message me privately with some information about your lifestyle, experience, and home setup.
Thank you so much for reading, and please be kind. 🤍
