Description
📍We are looking for someone close local to Nottinghamshire for Ben who would be happy to continue working with our trainer linked to the rescue (adoption fee includes 1 handling session with our trainer).
Meet Handsome Ben, a cracking 7-8 month old lad looking for his forever home! Ben is on the lookout for a home where he can truly live the life of man’s best friend! An active and intelligent boy, he’s always eager to learn and play. Ben is an absolute stunner – with a glossy all-black coat, a big happy grin, and his tongue charmingly lolling out the side of his mouth.
Ben came to us after being passed between several homes, each struggling to manage his energy. When he first arrived, he was unfocused and full of pent-up energy. So, straight into our Doggy Bootcamp he went – introducing routine, structure, training, and a healthy new diet. And what a transformation! He’s come such a long way in a short time and is now thriving. Friendly with everyone he meets, Ben is always up for an adventure.
Ben would suit someone with experience handling high-energy breeds. He’s still young and full of bounce, so he’ll need a committed person who can keep up with him. A dream to train, he’s highly motivated and loves learning. His favourite game is football – he’ll happily leap into the air on his long legs to catch it! A home with a large garden would be ideal, along with access to good walking routes.
To give Ben the best start, his adopter will receive a handling session with our trainer. This ensures a smooth transition and helps prevent him from falling back into old habits.
He’s great with other dogs and has even become best mates with Big Scary Coco the Caucasian Shepherd. Ben would thrive in a home with a dog of similar age and energy level – he might be a bit too much for a calm older dog. That said, he’d also do well as a solo dog, as long as he’s kept mentally and physically stimulated. We’ve also worked hard on teaching Ben how to relax – helping him understand that it’s okay to switch off. Crate time has played a big role in building that skill.
As he can get a bit boisterous when excited, we recommend that any children in the home are over 12 and have some prior experience with dogs. Due to his size and strength, it’s important that parents are confident and ensure a positive relationship between Ben and the children.
Ben really is a gem – a cracking dog with a heart of gold. All he needs now is someone willing to put in the time and love he deserves.
Ben is NOT neutered due to his age, this is something we will require to be done in the future by his adopter, although a ÂŁ150 voucher for this will be donated.
