Description
My partner and I are looking to rehome our dog, Rocco, as we are no longer in a position to provide him with the care and environment he needs.
About Rocco
* Name: Rocco
* Age: Will be 2 years old in August 2025
* Breed: American Pocket Bulldog x Staffordshire Bull Terrier
* Microchipped: Yes
Temperament:
Rocco is a happy, affectionate, and playful dog who loves people, especially children, and enjoys attention and cuddles (sometimes forgetting his size in the process!).
Other Animals:
Rocco wasn’t socialised before we got him 10 months ago, so he can be anxious and vocal around other dogs. While he has never shown aggression, he tends to stare, whine, and pull toward them on walks. He has not adjusted to living with our cat and has attempted to chase or attack, despite a slow, structured introduction. We do not feel it’s safe to leave them alone together.
Likes:
He enjoys walks in quiet areas, sunbathing, snow, and chewing toys, particularly his two comfort teddies. He also likes banana, strawberries, cucumber, and bell peppers.
Dislikes:
Being picked up and at-home grooming (though he is okay at professional groomers).
Background:
Rocco came to us in October 2024. We were not fully informed about his behavioural challenges or lack of socialisation. It appears he had minimal exposure outside a crate and garden and had never been walked or trained.
Despite initial setbacks, including not being potty or leash trained, we’ve worked extensively with a professional trainer and ourselves to correct these. Rocco is now fully house-trained, crate trained, understands basic commands, and is improving on walks. However, he still struggles with overstimulation and needs ongoing support.
Why We’re Rehoming:
We love Rocco deeply and have invested significant time and effort into his care. However, we now realise that we are not equipped to provide the continued training and structure he requires. We hope to find a more suitable environment for him, ideally with no other pets and someone experienced who can give him the stability he needs to thrive.
