Meet Douglas…
Doulas is a 3 year old midi Dachshund (7kg) looking for a new forever home!
This is through absolutely no fault of his own and completely down to my own stupidity!
Douglas came to us as a pup (having fallen in love with him when a friend posted his pics along with his siblings from a litter she had bred) who wouldn’t, he’s so handsome!
Unfortunately we rushed into a decision to get him and home with us he came.
He filled 2 voids for us (he replaced an older dog we had sadly lost through age and he became the baby we thought we were unable to have - we’ve since had 2 babies which is why I feel the need to find this loving boy a home that can give him the time he needs!
I’ve listed pics that shows he is good with cats (as long as they are ok with dogs), he’s wary of skitty cats having been scratched before!
He is also good with children of all ages, including a toddler who loves to cuddle him 🤭
He currently lives with an older dog (13years old) who isn’t going to be around forever - again a reason for us to re-home him now as we do not have the captivity to get him a new playmate.
He would suit a home that either already has a calm dog or he would suit a household where someone can become him human playmate!
He’s a loving soul - unfortunately though he’s very needy! The more cuddles you give him the more he will give you sad eyes until you give him more cuddles!
He’s fully toilet trained - we’ve only had the odd accidents from him (in his younger days) when we’ve been a bit lax in letting him out into the garden (while we have been out etc).
I genuinely cannot fault him - our only reason for rehoming is that we cannot dedicate the time this boy needs with 2 small children in tow (our time restraints are only going to get more restrictive as our little ones get older).
He walks ok on an extendable lead, but needs someone who is aware of there surrounds and focused on him as he can get carried away and will bark at anything that ‘spooks’ him or he thinks will be fun to play with!
He is fully vaccinated, flea and worm treatment up to date. No health conditions.
He is wary with having his nails clipped but in the right hands can be managed with little fuss.
He is good at bathing, but hates water in any other form, he will actively walk around a puddle 🤭
He will tolerate rain, but can take it or leave it!
I am happy for meetings (local to us as have small children to accommodate)!
He would love a squishy bed with a blanket he can hide under (typical dachshund trait)
No time wasters please, I genuinely want to find the right home for Douglas, also no judgement please, this is an incredibly hard step for us and is a decision we have not taken lightly 🥺
