You might think that the Australian Shepherd, also known as Aussie, is native to Australia, but the breed actually originated in the Basque region of Spain. From here, these dogs found their way to America where careful, selective breeding resulted in the dogs we see today. In the United States, the Aussie, or Little Blue Dog as it is often called, remains one of the most popular working dogs and family pets.
