Cockapoos — also known as Cockerpoos, Cockerdoodles, or Spoodles — are a popular cross between the Cocker Spaniel and the Poodle, loved for their friendly nature, high intelligence, and often low-shedding coats. They come in a range of sizes depending on the Poodle parent used and can have wavy to curly coats in many colours. Their affectionate temperament and trainability make them excellent family companions and suitable therapy dogs.
Generations such as F1, F1b, F2, F3, and F4 Cockapoos differ mainly in coat predictability and genetic makeup. F1 Cockapoos are a 50/50 mix and can vary more in appearance. F1b Cockapoos, often around 75% Poodle, tend to have more predictable, lower-shedding coats. Later generations like F2, F3, and F4 Cockapoos are produced by breeding two Cockapoos together and may offer more consistency in the “teddy-bear” look many owners prefer.
Regardless of generation, Cockapoos are energetic, sociable, and thrive on interaction. They get along well with children and other pets, and benefit from regular grooming and daily exercise.
