Dachshund looking for his forever home ❤️ It is with a very heavy heart that we are looking to find a new home for our lovely boy, who will be 1 on 21st November. This is an extremely difficult decision and one we have not made lightly. We have put a lot of time, patience and effort into trying to make things work, but after a lot of consideration we have come to the heartbreaking decision that our home isn’t the right fit for him long term. He is a very loving, affectionate boy who loves being around people. He is good with children and gets on wonderfully with other dogs. He has a lovely personality and is a very special dog to us, which is what makes this decision so difficult. He is a young dachshund with lots of character and, as is typical of the breed, he can be very vocal and energetic. Unfortunately, with our family commitments, two children, work and our other dogs, we have found that his level of barking and energy is more than we are able to manage happily as a family. This is absolutely not a decision we are making because we don’t love him or haven’t tried. We genuinely have tried very hard to make things work, but we feel it is kinder and more responsible to find him a home where his personality and needs are a better match. We are looking for a loving, responsible and committed forever home for him, ideally with someone who understands dachshunds and the characteristics of the breed. We will be asking questions about potential homes because finding the right family for him is much more important to us than simply finding him a new home quickly. He is not KC registered and is not neutered. This really is a heartbreaking decision for our family, and we just want to make sure he goes to someone who will love him as much as we do. ❤️

Not the best choice for first time owners because Dachshunds often have a mind of their own

Care must be taken with puppies because they must not be allowed to jump up or down from anywhere because it could damage their backs and joints

They are prone to putting on too much weight if not given enough daily exercise

The breed is known to suffer from quite a few health concerns so vet bills can be high and why pet insurance is so important for anyone owning a Dachshund
