Rocco is a beautiful, fun-loving and energetic young dog with the sweetest nature and a fantastic temperament. He is incredibly affectionate and thrives on human companionship, forming strong bonds with the people around him. He loves cuddles, kisses, and being close to his humans, and is happiest when he feels included as part of the family.
Rocco is crate trained and very settled in his crate. He sleeps comfortably overnight for up to 8 hours and also takes short naps throughout the day. He responds well to familiar sleep cues such as a fan or gentle background noise, including calming music, which helps him relax and switch off.
He is clever, eager to please, and responds extremely well to positive, reward-based training. Like many dogs, his recall dipped slightly during adolescence, but with consistent training and treats, his recall has improved amazingly well and continues to strengthen.
Rocco has a playful, enthusiastic style and enjoys interactive play. He especially loves durable chew toys and enrichment toys, which help him relax and self-soothe. Soft or stuffed toys aren’t suitable for him, as he will happily dismantle them!
He is currently fed Harringtons dry puppy food and does best on a kibble-only diet, as he can have a sensitive stomach. He does not tolerate wheat, so foods and treats containing wheat should be avoided. His favourite treats are freeze-dried treats, along with cooked chicken and cheese, which are particularly motivating for walks and training.
Rocco can be left alone for short periods but is not suited to being left for long stretches, as he is quite sensitive and thrives on companionship. He would do best in a home where someone is around for much of the day, or able to gradually build up alone time with patience and reassurance.
For Rocco’s wellbeing, he will need to be in a cat-free household.
This decision has been made with Rocco’s best interests at heart. We are looking for a patient, loving home that can offer him time, stability, continued training, and lots of affection. In return, Rocco will give endless love, loyalty, and joy to the right family.
