Description
His name is Dennis The Menace, we don’t know his gender for cetain as we didn’t want to put him through the stress however, we think he’s a male due to his characteristics. We purchased him from a breeder in Manchester when he was 16weeks old. He is also ringed.
He has a good vocabulary however it changes to whatever stage of your life your going through, from screaming toddler stage to counting and spelling (not that he can do it correctly but the boy does give it a go and try).
He loves the old ‘Peek a boo’ while ducking down, he says ‘ohoooo’ while your eating his favourite treats such as crisps or ice cream. He says his name ‘Dennis’, ‘hello Dennis’. He says ‘Roxy Roo’ which is our dog but he will soon forget old vocab as he learns new. He currently barks and meows like our other animals, karate chops you and kisses on demand. Dennis gets on well with our cats and shows interest in other animals.
Dennis isn’t keen on my husband while he’s in his cage (but is a different bird when outside of it), he loves me and my 8year old son so I don’t think he prefers a specific gender.
Dennis is only 6years old therefore is still a young bird and needs a life long committed home. He needs to be able to have exercise outside of his cage and his new home must be aware of how noisy this breed of bird is. He needs to be allowed to express his natural behaviour freely (therefore no covering the cage in towels/blankets etc). He settles downs around 8pm at night with the family and mainly sleeps on his swing within the cage. You don’t hear him at all during the night until you get up in the morning and he’s in a very light room with skylight windows and still stays silent.
He will come with XL cage which is in good condition which was bought brand new for approx £900 which has x2 built in food bowls and x1 water bowl (which we use mini padlocks on as he lets himself out and it’s meant to be an inescapable cage). All his cage furniture will come with him including nail/beak shortening perches, Java wood branch, toys, swing and left over food he has. He gets fed a premium quality parrot mix with seed and dried fruit. I do add other items in so he receives a varied diet. He recives treats throughout the day.
Please only very interested people enquire as this is a very upsetting sale for myself and my family. If you fit the suitable criteria you may be lucky enough to receive a visit to come and meet him. Multiple changes in circumstances and in health forces sale. He will only be given to a suitable home that ticks all the boxes, if this doesn’t become available he will have to stay with us however, he deserves so much more attention that I can now give and it isn’t fair on him to just keep him for our selfish selves. If you are seriously interested please message me, tell me about about yourself, your family and the type of home you offer. I also know a fully insured pet transportation if needed on request. Thank you
