Description

Collytown Clumbers (licensed) Rare native breed of Spaniels  Hybrid Clumber Spaniels bred by Natalie Gardner (veterinary nurse) & Victor Gardner (game keeper and prior owner of The Countryman’s Weekly) Collytown Clumbers are purpose-bred working Clumber Spaniels outcrossed with a touch of working Cocker Spaniel, for hybrid vigor, health and working ability. The ideology first came about after Victor Gardner spent the day as a Gun at Anthony Estate in Cornwall. Here he first saw what appeared to be extra large working spaniels, with a keen, attentive nose, and a desire for steady, thorough investigation of cover in search of game birds. The large spaniels were partbred Clumbers, liver and white but larger than the traditional working springer - slower, shorter in the leg, slightly longer in the back. The aim of Collytown Clumbers is to produce a Clumber look-a-like with the attributes of the Clumber’s gorgeous colour and impeccable nose, but with enhanced health through hydrid vigour, and therefore improved working ability. As you are probably aware the breed of Clumber Spaniels has a small gene pool and careful breeding is required when producing a litter. We currently have Australian lines and Swedish lines to widen the gene pool, as well as of course continuing with the fundamental outcross.  As a veterinary nurse I can vouch that cross breeds on the whole tend to require the attention of a veterinarian less often. Temperament and ease of training are sought after traits which Collytown Clumbers are pleased is evident in our lines. The health and welfare of all puppies produced is important to us and therefore we will be happy to give you any advice on future care and training.  Collytown Clumbers have taken every care with breeding, rearing, and the welfare of your puppy. All our dogs used in the breeding program have been health tested and are good specimens. DNA tested with wisdom panel. EIC and PDP1 clear with low hip and elbow scores. Your puppy is believed to be in good health, having been checked by both a veterinarian and veterinary nurse throughout the first 8 weeks of their life. To enable your puppy to progress into a well behaved and sociable character, we encourage utilising puppy classes, which can often be attended through your local vets free of charge. We strongly advise you to take your puppy to the vets soon after purchasing him or her to gain advice on vaccinations, flea treatment and worming programs. Puppies will be previously wormed at 2,4,6 and 8 weeks of age, and treated for fleas before leaving. If your veterinarian finds any problem which, in their opinion, renders the puppy unfit for sale, Collytown Clumbers will take the puppy back and refund the full purchase price, on the condition that the puppy is returned within 7 days of purchase and is in the same state of health as when he or she was sold. Your puppy will be microchipped and comes with a puppy pack.  £1200 (£300 deposit secures) Please call: 07720614440 Or email natalieenarosegardner@hotmail.co.uk  for more details.
