Description

Liliesleaf Retrievers are looking for guardian homes for several of our young dogs. Note: they are not for sale - please read and understand advert before getting in touch. What is a guardian home? Guardian homes are the permanent pet homes for one of our dogs while and after they are in our breeding program. You will receive a quality, health-tested pedigree retriever to have as a family pet at no upfront cost. Once they are retired (and spayed/neutered at our expense), full ownership transfers to the guardian family. We have decided to seek guardian homes for several of our young dogs, so that they can benefit from more one-to-one attention. What are the criteria to be a guardian? *Location must be a reasonable driving distance from Carlisle, ideally in the Scottish Borders or similar but please get in touch with your location if you are interested *Willing to have a home visit and sign a guardian contract *No intact male dogs in the home *Willing to communicate and cooperate when it is necessary for the dog to be collected occasionally *Willing to learn the signs of the heat cycle in female dogs *Able to meet the dog’s ongoing needs for attention, exercise, training and appropriate diet How does it work? The dog will live with you, except for several short periods of time around breeding. She will come back to us for occasional vet visits for health testing at 1-2 years of age, breeding when she is in heat, and for 8-10 weeks to have and raise her puppies. The guardian home is responsible for normal care of a pet dog and expenses such as food. The breeder is responsible for all expenses related to breeding. The commitment is for up to 3 litters, at least one year apart and dependent on her continued health and suitability. Therefore, the guardian commitment is likely to last for up to 5 years. Abbie Abbie is a one year old cream show-type golden retriever from very good health-tested lines. She is a very soft-natured dog but young and active. She is good with other dogs and with cats and would enjoy a confident, well-rounded adult dog in the home to play with. Cassie and Callie These two girls are 5 month old working golden retriever pups, again from the best possible lines and health testing. They will make brilliant pets for adult or family homes with children. Homes that are active and potentially willing to take them to arranged professional training (cost covered) would be preferred. They may attend professional residential training for a few weeks at around 9 months of age if needed. If you think that becoming a guardian home for one of these girls is a good fit for you then please get in touch. Please include your phone number and location.
