I have looking for their forever perch a small group of 5 FRENCH MOULT (AVP) budgies, to go to a PET HOME with knowledge of AVP, or willingness to learn. These are all homebred birds and are the frenchies from the 23 and 24 seasons. They're otherwise happy little birds. They don't require a huge amount of difference in care than other budgies, but their supplement routine and nutritional needs being maintained are absolutely essential to keeping them feathered. A home with existing knowledge of AVP, or readiness to learn with support is vital. Will happily provide their new person with enough of their supplements to get you going, and spend all the time you need to help you understand husbandry of frenchies, with ongoing support.
***** These birds can not be housed with non AVP birds. *****
They'll receive the same life time owner support as all my others, but will not be going with their pedigrees. This is due to the very sad fact that there are still some people who would attempt to breed these birds, so their breeding records will remain sealed to reduce the risk of someone taking them to try to breed them.
***** These are NOT FOR BREEDING. It would be totally unethical to breed these birds, and all their parents have been retired off. *****
They have been living in their own seperate cage in my birdroom to ensure they are going to maintain body feather and be minimally effected by their AVP with the right diet. They are doing well and are now ready to find their forever perch with the right person. While I provide as much enrichment as possible, regular toy changes, forage options, ect, with 100 birds to care for these birds don't get out of cage time and all their social interaction is from each other and talking to the other birds. They deserve a forever perch where they can have out of cage time with a person and explore more of life, because despite their AVP they are absolutely full of beans and have very big personalities. I'll be gutted to see them go, but for their benefit they would be much better suited to a home life than one in a birdroom.
***** Please note that these birds have never known flight and it's highly unlikely they'll ever sustain enough flight feather growth to fly. As they've never known flight they aren't stressed in the same way as clipped birds, but these budgies are very unlikely to ever fly *****
☆ Teddy ☆
• Grey, Yellowface type 1, Cockbird.
• Teddy is an absolute sweetheart. He's bred from a project with temperament in mind. He's a softie. Will be easily fully tamed in the right setting.
• He does grow in his tail, which he hold fairly well. His wing flights do also grow in, but they drop quickly, so he never has a full set. He's sporting one full wing and one fully empty wing at the moment.
☆ Scarlet ☆
• Violet, Spangle, Hen.
• Scarlet is very much a follow the flock kind of bird. She's easily influenced by whatever the others are up to. She's a follower, not a leader. She'll tame up fine, once she spots some of the others enjoying people time.
• Her flight feathers grow in intermittently, but drop quickly. She's rarely got more than a few wafty ones at a time.
☆ Houdini ☆
• Grey, Texts Clear Body, Cockbird.
• Houdini is aptly named for his continued daring escape attempts. Which he has a gift for, and he's got no business being as fast as he is on his little legs. Good luck rounding him up when he goes for a run. Houdini doesn't care that he can't fly and will absolutely yeet himself from any height with an alarming thud, and take off running. You have to keep your eyes on him when the doors open. He's a sweet little guy, and once finally rounded up, he'll accept a head scritch. If you can keep your eyes on him, he'll tame up in no time. He's got a very curious nature and wants to be into everything.
• I have previously been able to get him to regrow a full set of flights once, or twice when he was very young, although he hasnt grown much in since. He's got absolutely no flights at the moment and hasn't had much to speak off since maturing.
☆ Zero ☆
• Opaline Skyblue Hen.
• Zero is an incredibly skittish little bird. She'll be straight up in the furthest possible corner when you're changing food and water out. I generally tend to just leave her be as she's quite happy just being a bird. She wouldn't be untamble, but will require lots of patience (and treats) to earn her trust. She's the stereotype of a skittish little budgie.
• She dropped all flights in the box and I've never seen her grow any in. It's not often I handle her to check for regrowth indication as it upsets her to be manhandled like that, but I've never seen any signs of regrowth. I doubt she'll ever get any flight feathers at this point.
☆ Evil B*tch ☆
• Blackwing, Yellowface type 2, Skyblue Hen.
• Listen, I know it's not a very nice name, but I promise you she's earned it. Be warned this bird is not your friend. She spends her days plotting the untimely demise of any unsuspecting human to enter her sight. She has BIG character, she knows what she wants and it's NOT to be touched. She bites and she bites hard, and at this point im sure it's a hobby of hers, you can hear her laughing as she does it. She's smart, real smart. She once escaped into the birdroom and it took me 3 days to get her back in the cage. She'll watch you and make sure she's where you're not. She'll find a tight little spot that leaves no option but to get your hand in the path of her beak to get her out. She's unbelievably clever and got an attitude problem. Naturally she's one of my favourite birds. If you can tame her I'll eat my shoe.
• She has all her flights, which she now sustains well. Sadly they've grown in all wafty due to early loss of them, so despite being fully feathered she's all crooked and remains downed.
There will be no charge for these birds, but a donation to Charlie's Place Rescue, who specialises in AVP and PBFD budgies would be welcomed.
