Description

We are looking to rehome our Vizsla puppy due to a change in my husband’s work circumstances. We are in no rush to rehome her as finding the right fit for her is the most important thing. My husband’s job means we will be unexpectedly relocating but I am staying behind for a few months to sell our home and hopefully find a new home for our pup. This is a very difficult decision, but it is the best one for her. Ideally her new owners will have had Vizslas or Pointers before as they are not the breed for everybody, they mature slower than other breeds, are Velcro, and require lots of mental stimulation and attention, particularly during the adolescence stage. She needs a peaceful home either in a rural setting or in a quiet part of a town with access to quiet, countryside walks. She has not been around children so I don’t know how she would behave but I would say no to any homes with children under 13 range as she is still very bouncy and mouthy at times and couild easily knock a small child or fragile elderly person over. She is fearful of traffic – particularly motorbikes and HGVs. We live near a relatively busy road, so I don’t walk her on the lead locally at busy times and usually drive to nearby fields or woodland to walk her. She likes to work her brain and is very good at obedience class. She has done the good citizen 8-week puppy training course, and we are now working on the kennel club bronze award. We are also working with a gun dog trainer for breed fulfilment. We have also worked with a local trainer to build her confidence as she is quite nervous when it comes to meeting new people and dogs. While we socialised her to the world as a small puppy, following all the advice, we also recognise that Vizsla’s are a sensitive breed, and she seems to be a particularly sensitive V. We haven’t really let her interact with other dogs due to her shy nature, but she may be able to live with another dog if they are extremely tolerant, patient, and able to match her boisterous nature once she does get her confidence. She can be quite barky; she hasn’t mastered the art of greeting calmly yet (she jumps up unless you ask her to get a toy) and she counter surfs. She is generally very full on which is typical for a 7-month Vizsla but might come as a shock if you are not used to the breed. I am being as honest as I can about her as its important to us that she finds a home that understands her breed. She is cuddly and sleeps really well at night, usually she snuggles on the sofa with us in the evening from 7:30 and then after a toilet break she sleeps in her crate upstairs from 10:30pm until 6:45am, and after a toilet break she goes back to bed until 8:00am lol! We let her off lead and she sticks pretty close but as we walk her in rural locations her recall hasn’t really been tested by multiple distractions. I would say she is obedient but there is still lots of training and practicing to be done. I joke that she is a full time job – but she really does require lots of attention at this age. She is KC registered from champion show lines and is very beautiful. I hope that I can find her the right home. Happy to answer any questions on email, msg, or chat over zoom.
