Description

This is a really devastating post for sweet beautiful 1 year old Luna. She came from Scotland only 3 weeks ago. We are first time dog owners and live in central Brighton and we sadly don't have the ability to give her what she needs. Inside the home, she is great. Very gentle, can settle herself when alone, only barks when someone is at the door or in eyesight, can be redirected to stop barking easily. Fine with all household noises. Potty trained. Happy in her crate, and sleeps in their at night (with the door open). She will need slow transition to door closed from what I can tell. More good news is she is extremely smart, kind, and looking to please. She has a great Sit, Stay and Down already. She also confidently climb stairs with us and also to ask to pass through doors. In general, she has good impulse control. Her lead walking has also improved, even though we are quite restricted in how much we do with her. She now checks in when she hits the end of lead anytime you are alone. Her heel is coming along and she has high food drive. However, outside the house on lead, she is difficult. When she is alone or in very open areas, she is fine, but too close to people or dogs she gets extremely excited. We have seen zero signs of aggression. She hasn't barked or growled yet at any person or dog. But she immediately starts pulling towards them. She can be redirected if you catch it quickly, but in central Brighton that is not always possible. So now Luna has no good plan to get the required exposure and confidence to the world. Apparently, Luna is a breeze compared to other GSDs, but in the wrong environment she is not getting what she needs. We were mislead when we went to visit Luna and we foolishly went along with it because she melted our hearts. In fact, she would even have been great for us if only we had a larger yard to build her confidence. In our home she is amazing, can settle and on very short walks is great. Given this, we think she CAN BECOME THE DREAM, but it is going to take someone who has the space, time, and knowledge that we do not. She needs a good forever home to thrive. Please reach out with DETAILS ABOUT YOURSELF if you think you can provide it. She is around 20kg (just a guess, I will weigh her later). She is not spayed. Just got out of heat 1 month ago. The original breeder shared photos of mom and dad (which you will see in the ad). They told me “mom has low hip and elbow scores” and both are “extensively health tested.” They also said she can be KC registered. I can share the breeder data if you are serious about Luna. They also said they can KC register her if desired. We re-homed her for 700 pounds and just bought 600 pounds of dog food, crate, treats, harness etc which we can include with her. We can also lower the price for the right home. We are not in a rush. Can happily keep her for ~3 months if it helps her find the right home. Of course, it may be better she moves sooner and settles faster rather than continue to bond with us.
