Mum:
Pickle (dam) is an apricot cream F1 toy maltipoo (4 kgs, 24 cm) with a wavy coat. This is her 4th litter so she is very calm & attentive. As a pup’s early experiences are crucial in shaping their long-term temperaments/behaviour this is invaluable. Pickle has a 3-gen pedigree & no autosomal-recessive conditions. Pickle has a kind temperament, is super smart so no training has ever been necessary, she just knows what to do. She's patient with all creatures great & small (cats, dogs, reptiles, children & the occasional chicken) & is unquestionably loving.

Jackpot (sire) is a black piebald F1 toy maltipoo (6kgs, 26 cm) with a curly coat. This is his 4th litter with Pickle. He is DNA tested & clear of 262 genetic problems & a carrier for none including those common in maltipoos:

Jackpot has the sweetest nature & is a very hands on dad, helping with cleaning, snuggling & playing as soon as Pickle allows it. Until then he sits patiently outside the den keeping guard.

Early Life & Environment:
We've found that keeping our puppies together as a family until their 12 wk vaccinations ensures they’re calm, confident & well socialised when they leave us. When they leave us they can walk on a lead, sleep through the night, are happy to be washed, dried & groomed, travel in the car & are 95% toilet trained😉

Whilst the pups are with us, they’re our pets & a central part of family life. Their den is in our kitchen, so they received unlimited love not only from Pickle & Jackpot but from our 4 boys, other maltipoo (Zuzu), cats (Marble & Pepper) & bearded dragon (Rebecca).

After their 8 wk vaccination the pups roam freely around our house & have access to their own separate garden. Each time we clean out their den (daily) we create new & interesting obstacle courses for them to increase their confidence, provide mental stimulation & eliminate boredom & stress.

Using positive reinforcement (treats, praise, & toys) we teach the pups basic life skills:
• Basic comms (sit, stay, come, down, & leave it)
• Foundational skills (lead walking, toilet training, car travel, grooming)
• Socialisation to people, dogs & other animals.

Our Merry Maltipoos have 2 vet check-ups, are fully vaccinated (8 &12 week), flea & worm treated & microchipped.

Toy maltipoos:
Toy maltipoos are small, adorable & known for their love of humans & playful personalities. They're a crossbreed of a maltese & a toy poodle. They have a teddy bear-like look with soft, curly or wavy coats are very low-shedding, making them a perfect choice for allergy sufferers. Maltipoos perform above average on intelligence test due to their poodle heritage which makes them easy to train, they are not possessive or greedy with food or toys, & their gentle predictable nature means they can be trusted around small children & other pets. They need about 30-60 minutes of exercise a day (walks, play or engaging puzzle toy) & are super smart so need minimal training. Maltipoos regularly live past 15 yrs, it is not unheard of for them to live into their 20s, look after yours well & they will pay you back with years of joy.

Boy or girl?
In line with Kennel club recommendations, we suggest if you're not going to breed, you have your pup neutered. This is a low-risk operation with a short recovery time (5-10days), reduces the risk of life limiting disease, improves temperament, eliminates unwanted behaviours (e.g. barking, marking, roaming), makes pups more focused on their family. Neutering a dog also minimises the behavioural/temperamental differences between males & females. However, we've found boys to be a little more affectionate, girls a little more independent.

Maltipoos love their humans so don’t like to be apart from them for long. They will need to visit a groom every 8-10 weeks, with a little bit of upkeep (eye cleaning, brushing, the odd bath) in between. If you have their coats cut quite short (especially in the summer), they are low maintenance.
