Free to the right home: Meet Oreo, our beautiful 4-year-old male Cocker Spaniel. This has been an incredibly difficult decision for our family, but we are seeking a new home for Oreo due to behaviour that makes it unsafe for him to stay with young children.
Oreo is an energetic and affectionate dog who loves long walks, playing fetch, and being part of family life. He’s intelligent, responsive, and forms strong bonds with his people.
However, he has displayed aggressive behaviour, including biting incidents involving both adults and children (ages 4 and 10). These incidents have not resulted in serious injuries, but we feel it is no longer safe to keep him in a household with children. The behaviour appears to stem from resource guarding, and he has also shown aggression toward small dogs and cats on occasion.
For Oreo’s safety, and the safety of others, he needs a calm, structured, child-free home with an experienced dog owner who can manage his triggers and continue training with care and consistency. He would do best as the only pet, or potentially with a calm, confident dog under careful supervision.
This is a heartbreaking situation, but we believe Oreo can thrive in the right environment. We are looking for someone who understands the breed and is willing to give him the time, patience, and leadership he needs.
