Darla is a small sized girl and shares many of the same traits as a terrier. She's bouncy, vocal and always up for an adventure! She is a very big character who comes in a small package.
At the kennels we've noticed that Darla thrives when she has a routine. She likes to go on long walks, have her breakfast and settle down on top of her crate to observe her surroundings. Darla also loves her toys, especially ones bigger than her so she can drag them around 😂.
Once Darla completely trusts you, she is a very affectionate dog. She will give you her paw to show you that she would like to be touched. She will also curl up on your lap for some fuss. When you are fussing her, her ears go back and she shuts her eyes which is absolutely adorable.
Darla’s quirks include not drinking out of her water bowl when there’s a pebble in it (!?), choosing who she wants to go out on a walk with (she hides from the people she doesn’t want to walk with - her preferences change every day), playing 'tag - you’re it!' which involves a game of chase. She is a very playful girl!
Darla needs:
• To be an only dog. Although she has shown she can be okay with other dogs, she would much prefer having the house to herself.
• To be a part of a quieter household. Loud noises and busier households cause her to be overstimulated.
• To be able to be safely locked away when visitors come over. She isn’t a fan of people she doesn’t know.
• To be able to have her own safe space/safe room where she can be undisturbed to eat/sleep etc.
