I have had the pleasure of hand rearing Simba since he was 8 weeks old. I bought him off a breeder where the mum of 8 kittens had given up feeding them.
I weaned him off milk and onto dried food and he’s been an utter joy to have as our pet.
Unfortunately my youngest son has autism and I didn’t realise what a stressful thing it would be to have a kitten living in the house.
My son gets so distressed by Simba being playful and just a kitten, it’s got to the point where I’m having to keep them separated otherwise my son ends up in full meltdown.
It’s not fair on my son or Simba, as he’s missing out on family life and cuddles some of the time.
I thought getting a kitten would be a good thing for my son, as animals are often therapeutic and good for autism.
I’m so sad it’s not worked out this way for us.
He’s a beautiful boy, really loving and playful.
His markings are stunning, I saw both mum and dad when I bought him and they were utterly gorgeous!
