Selkie is a beautiful four year old white Swiss Shepherd who is looking for a calm adult-only household with experience of guarding breeds who can offer her the exercise and mental stimulation she needs, alongside supporting her with her anxiety and reactivity issues. Selkie will in return be a loyal, affectionate and lovely dog who will bond with you quickly once she's gained your trust. She is intelligent, responds well to training, likes to be active and to have a job.
Selkie can feel threatened around people she doesn’t know and can be dog reactive. Thus she may lunge and snap at new people, or at dogs walking towards her, and has previously bitten another dog. These traits may improve with consistent training and time; but meantime she needs an experienced and savvy owner who understands her anxiety and is prepared to put this work in with her.
While Selkie has lived with another dog, she might benefit from being an only dog. She has a strong prey drive, so no cats, and we would not consider rehoming to a family with children under 12years.
We would want any potential adopter to spend time with Selkie on at least two visits to get to know her.
