Description
Kizo is a 1-year-old Dachshund boy looking for a very special person who can give him the time, patience, love, and understanding he needs. This is an incredibly difficult decision for us because we love him dearly, but we feel that finding him the right home is what is best for him.
We took Kizo in when he was just 3 months old. Unfortunately, the information we were given about his past was not truthful, and we believe he may have experienced mistreatment before coming to us. Because of this, he can be very fearful and anxious, which makes training and building his confidence challenging.
❤️ A little about Kizo:
🐾 He absolutely loves children and enjoys cuddles, affection, and attention from the people he trusts.
🐾 He has been brought up alongside a cat and another dog, so he is used to having other animals around.
🐾 He seems to be more comfortable around dogs of his own breed, but this cannot be guaranteed, and any compatibility with other dogs would need to be assessed carefully.
🐾 He can be very timid and anxious around unfamiliar people, especially men, and can struggle around other dogs.
🐾 He can be stubborn, particularly on walks, and will need continued training, patience, and someone who understands his behaviour.
🐾 Kizo has never been left alone, and he struggles with separation. He can become very destructive when left on his own, so he will need someone who can be with him most of the time and gradually work on helping him feel safe when alone.
🐾 We were originally told that Kizo was a miniature Dachshund, but this is definitely not the case. He currently weighs around 8 kg, putting him at the lower end of the standard Dachshund size range.
What kind of home does Kizo need?
Kizo needs someone who genuinely understands the Dachshund breed and has the time, patience, and experience to work with his behavioural challenges. He needs a calm, secure environment, consistency, and someone who will help him build confidence at his own pace.
He is microchipped, vaccinated, and regularly treated for fleas and worms.
Finding the right home is more important to us than finding a home quickly.
Kizo will not be going to just anyone. Anyone interested must be willing to spend time getting to know him and allow him to build trust at his own pace. He will not be leaving with someone straight away. We want to arrange gradual introductions to make sure he feels safe and comfortable before making such a big change.
We are looking for someone who can see beyond his fears and stubbornness, understand that he needs extra support, and give him the chance to live a happy, settled life.
This decision comes from love, not from a lack of love. We want Kizo to have the best possible future with someone who can give him everything he needs to thrive.
If you genuinely feel you could offer Kizo the right home, please get in touch and tell us a little about yourself, your experience with Dachshunds, your daily routine, and the home you could offer him.
Please only enquire if you are fully committed to giving Kizo the time, patience, and understanding he deserves.
We love him dearly, and all we want is to find the right person for our boy. ❤️🐾
