After two and half years in a loving home Katie found herself in kennels. We were so excited to receive an application for her that seemed perfect. We arranged to meet yesterday at a halfway point in a country park. As the park was in the opposite direction to the kennels I collected Katie on Saturday evening. My goodness she was so pleased to be out and jumped in the back of a car like a gazelle. Katie was the perfect houseguest. She came on a walk with some of my dogs, met new people with a wagging tail and although left for a few hours alone was quiet and not destructive. She was also such a good girl in the park only showing a small amount of reactivity to larger dogs but was easily corrected. We came home with hope in our hearts. But sadly, it wasn’t to be and the family decided against adopting her. I was supposed to take her back to kennels today but thought of returning her there has literally had me in tears all day and I just couldn’t do it.
So we are desperately seeking a forever or foster home for Katie to prevent her from returning to kennels. She is an energetic dog so will need a substantial amount of exercise. She is very exuberant so a quiet home would suit her. She intermittently pulls on the lead but is easily corrected. Extremely smart and responds to basic commands. She can be left happily for several hours with no barking or destructive behaviour. She is housetrained but does not like cats.
