Description
Hi, I’d like you to meet Diesel.
His full Kennel Club name is HowtonOak Spectre Defender, but to me, he’s simply Diesel — my home-bred, loyal, and kind-hearted black Labrador who’s been with me from the very moment he was born.
From the start, Diesel was the puppy I was drawn to. We had an instant connection. He was always the quiet observer in the litter — the one who would take everything in before making his move. There was a thoughtfulness about him that I absolutely loved, and that calm, considerate nature has stayed with him as he’s grown.
I bred Diesel myself with a clear vision in mind: to produce a traditional working-type Labrador with excellent health, a sound mind, and the temperament to thrive both as a working dog and as a family companion. He has grown into exactly the kind of dog I hoped for — and more.
At home, Diesel is the picture of calm. He loves a cuddle on the sofa and often carries one of his toys from room to room, especially when he’s happy. He’s gentle and respectful around people of all ages, gets on beautifully with other animals, and nothing much fazes him — new sounds, smells, or situations are taken completely in his stride.
Out and about, Diesel is confident and level-headed, whether we’re in the quiet countryside or the hustle and bustle of a busy environment. He enjoys the activity and stimulation but stays composed and focused, never overwhelmed.
I love gundog training with Diesel, and I have never wanted to rush him. Everything comes so naturally to him. When I ask him to try something new, he always gives it his best effort, and if he doesn’t get it right straight away, he quickly figures out what I’m asking. He has a lovely soft mouth, is steady when required, and takes great joy in retrieving — always keen to get out there and bring it back without hesitation.
Diesel’s combination of calm home life, rock-solid temperament, athletic working build, and natural ability make him an exceptional Labrador in every way. He is steady, loving, and trainable — exactly the type of dog I wanted to produce when I bred him, and exactly the kind I hope he will pass on to his puppies.
