‘Gill’ is available whilst he doesn’t know that there’s no keeping his spirits down
Gilbert -or ‘gill’ to his mates seduced me within seconds of meeting him because if he was reincarnated he’d be a Napoleon clock thats running slow (behind time in the most laidback way) & a spring lamb showing you he’s still got it - whatever ‘it’ is. He might be 6yrs but he seems so made up to be noticed, stroked & happier than he has been that he wins you over without trying.
Despite his middle age he’s falls either side of his years like an infant in his enthusiasm and a goldie in his ambling tranquility. He isn’t boistrous - doesn’t jump up, is incredible gentle & what energy he possesses is channeled into playtime with any available dog. They all love him and whether he’s the only resident dog or joining other household animals he offers everything and needs very little. He’s calm (never excitable), joyful, quiet, affectionate, considerate, selfless & a lump of adorable marsh mellow. Gill is up for spooning & sometimes looks you square in the eye as though studying (hoping) that he’s worth picking. What fractures me in his ‘story’ which is actually only a grim reality (unless I home him), is that the morsel of interaction he’s getting is EVERYTHING to him & when that ends his responsive
elation will be tragically cut short. His wonderful temperament, thread of hope & faith will come to nothing. That is what crumbles my soul. They don’t know that this rest bite from cruelty, indifference & neglect is just that but we as an organisation do. Our welfare helps beautiful souls like Gilbert who are at risk. You can also support, become a volunteer &/or adopt Gill or any of the boys & girls we dedicate our time to trying to save. The resident vet remarked, ‘ you think you can help him?’, knowing that he’s a lad who will be overlooked for the more popular and easy choice of a small fluffy puppy. So it became my mission to show that boys like Gilbert are not a write off. We aren’t so why should he be?
